EYE TEST

Your eye examination will last for approximately 40 minutes, to allow time for your optometrist to thoroughly examine your eyes and vision. During this time, you will be asked to complete a series of tests which are all designed to assess your visual status (whether you might be long or short-sighted) and eye health.

None of these are difficult or painful in any way, but are important for your optometrist to be able to accurately prescribe any eyewear, if this is necessary.

OPTIONAL FURTHER SCANS & EXPLANATION

You will also have the opportunity to have retinal photographs taken as part of your examination. Our digital retinal camera allows us to see a much wider section of the back of your eye, which consequently enables a thorough check of your eye health. Many eye conditions, including glaucoma and macular degeneration, can be detected in the very early stages by retinal screening. This in turn allows faster and more effective treatment for you.

Once your examination is complete, your optometrist will explain their findings to you, including any updates to your prescription that might be required. They’ll also be happy to answer any questions you have, as well as taking the time to recommend suitable products for your needs, wants and lifestyle.
